Church Buildings Administrator

The Diocesan Church Buildings Team provides support and conservation advice to parishes on the maintenance, use and development of their church buildings and churchyards. There is an increasing focus on the creative use of church buildings for the benefit of the wider community, as well as developing church tourism initiatives so that visitors can experience our unique and distinctive sacred heritage.

As part of this team the Church Buildings Administrator will: 

  • Provide a first line of help and advice for parishes seeking help with church buildings or faculty enquiries.
  • Assist the Church Development Officer as required with church development projects.
  • Administer the work of the Diocesan Advisory Committee (faculties), Churches & Pastoral Committee and the Quinquennial Inspection system. 
  • Advise and assist parishes with the preparation of Statements of Significance and Need in relation to their church building projects

Ideally applicants will have a background in historic building conservation, heritage, archaeology, conservation, planning or an allied subject.
Hours: full time permanent post (37.5 hours per week over 5 days) with occasional evening or weekend working. Salary: £25,800 per annum
