Diocese of Llandaff appoints new Diocesan Secretary

James Laing, former Director of Grants and Relationships at Allchurches Trust, has been appointed as the new Diocesan Secretary to the Diocese of Llandaff.

Announcing his appointment, the Bishop of Llandaff, June Osborne, said, “James Laing comes to us with already a distinguished career in leadership across several church settings. He will bring to the Diocese of Llandaff a wide perspective, many skills of operational development and a deep understanding of the nature and purpose of the Church in Wales.

“I am delighted to be welcoming James as a colleague and know that the parishes and Diocesan staff will flourish under his care and attention.”

James’s extensive leadership experience includes five years as Regional Manager at the Church of Scotland, based in Jerusalem, and six years as General Secretary at the Council of Lutheran Churches in the UK.

He said, “I’m excited to be joining the diocese at such an important time. The new diocesan vision, Where Faith Matters, has the potential to transform lives as well as communities. My role is to take a strategic approach in bringing the vision to life and show the positive impact the church can make in society.”

James takes up his post in September.

Where Faith Matters was launched in March 2019 and aims to transform lives through living and bearing witness to Jesus Christ. More information about the vision can be found on the diocesan website.
