How can you help grow the Kingdom of God in Llandaff?

The Diocese of Llandaff is the most densely populated part of Wales and is hugely diverse, from the urban capital of Cardiff to post-industrial Valleys and the semi-rural Vale of Glamorgan. Our vision is that all may encounter and know the love of God through truth, beauty and service, living full and rich lives through faith and committed discipleship.

As part of this provision we are starting a new service, to support churches across the Diocese by providing a book-keeping service, free at the point of use. This service will be implemented over the coming months, and we are looking to recruit a Diocesan Finance Officer to be at the heart of this. The role will be focused on providing bookkeeping support using the My Fund Accounting system.

The person that we are looking for will:

- Have a good understanding of the ethos of the Church in Wales

- Have hands-on experience of using an accounting system. If you have experience of My Fund Accounting that would be a bonus, but training will be given if your experience is on other systems

- Hands-on experience of charities or non-profits accounting would be a bonus, but again, training will be given if your experience is in commercial or other organisations

- Have a recognised accounting qualification, preferably AAT part or fully qualified. Experience will count for as much as qualifications and we will support staff in completing qualifications, but the role will include the production of full year-end accruals Accounts

- Be able to thrive in a changing environment, particularly as we roll out this service and engage with volunteers across the Diocese. Occasional travel will be required for trouble-shooting

- Be a team player, able to engage with colleagues within the Diocesan Finance function and also with Treasurers from across the Diocese, who have different backgrounds and levels of experience

We will initially be offering a core bookkeeping service, but we expect that in time we will add other services, both accounting and administrative. The role can be expected to expand as this develops.

The role will report directly into the Head of Finance, under the supervision of the Diocesan Finance Advisory Officer. We can offer a salary and package commensurate with the seniority of the post, flexibility in working patterns, and development opportunities within a small but committed, enthusiastic and ambitious team.

The Garth Ministry Area is looking for a new team member with specific responsibility for new worshipping communities. This dynamic role encompasses stabilising and growing existing congregations while growing new congregations through friendly, accessible worship and activities for all generations. Ideal for someone with a pastoral and evangelistic heart, this role provides scope for a self-starting pioneer eager to engage people in a journey of faith.

The Senior Church Surveyor will lead a team which will include a Junior/Graduate Surveyor, a DAC Secretary and a Grants and Funding Officer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead a team that will make a real difference to an exceptional group of historic buildings. Across both dioceses there are 380 church buildings. 46 of these are Grade I listed, 83 Grade II*, 114 Grade II and the remainder unlisted.

The successful Senior Building Surveyor's Role

The successful Senior Church Surveyor will be responsible for a broad range of tasks, with a particular emphasis on producing quinquennial condition surveys on church buildings.

A key aspect of the Senior Building Surveyor's responsibilities will be to support local volunteers to use these condition surveys to maintain, repair and develop their church buildings.

Salary: £50,605 - £53,978

Hours: This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position, with flexible hours including occasional weekend or evening work.

The Garth MA in North-West Cardiff is seeking a part-time, enthusiastic and friendly clerical assistant to support the clergy and the success of our team. The role would be varied, to include dealing with bookings for baptisms, weddings and funerals; to produce rotas and other similar documents in consultation with the clergy; and to play a co-ordination role for the members of the Ministry Area Council where needed. Good communications skills including experience of Office 365 and social media such as Facebook or X would be an advantage. Living within the Garth MA is not necessary, but living nearby would be helpful.

It is envisaged that this role would require 6 to 8 hours work per week. Hours of work can be flexible provided the output is timely.

Salary by negotiation but at least the current National Living Wage rate of £11. 44/hour and commensurate with such a position.

Penybont ar Ogwr Ministry Area is in urgent need of a part-time book keep to support the workload of the Ministry Area Treasurer, Mrs Sandra Arnott.

The post would be part-time, for possibly three two-hour weekly sessions, but this is negotiable.
