Church leaders from across the world join in a call for prayer for Wales this Christmas

Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury and Bishops from Jerusalem and America are lending their support to the Church in Wales bishops’ Advent call to prayer for the nation of Wales. In the lead up to Christmas Day, they are joining the Diocese of Llandaff in prayer by recording themselves saying the Church in Wales Advent prayer, which goes live on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter at 6pmThe Rt. Reverend Kevin Brown, Bishop of Delaware leads the Diocese of Llandaff in prayer today (Wednesday), followed by Dr Rowan Williams on Christmas Eve and The Most Revd Suheil Dawani, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, on Christmas Day.The Bishops of Wales invited everyone to join them in prayer every evening at 6pm during Advent. The prayer asks for God’s healing and blessing on the nation of Wales.

The Right Reverend June Osborne, Bishop of Llandaff said, “God’s light and love will always shine in the darkness. During Advent we prepare ourselves for the birth of Christ, the light of the world, whom we believe is God at work, entering the world to share our pain and to bring healing.We could all do with the strength, the compassion and the healing we find in prayer this Christmas time.Bishop Kevin Brown said, “I am delighted to be joining in prayer with my sisters and brothers across the Diocese of Llandaff. This year we have all shared the sorrow and pain that the pandemic has brought upon our communities, and yet it is in prayer that we find comfort in God’s goodness and love. On behalf of the Diocese of Delaware I wish Wales a blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year.”Archbishop Suheil says, “Christmas for us is both a great joy and also a great mystery.
