Text block 1

Our church buildings are a nationally important part of our heritage. A village, town or city's church is often its oldest building still in continual use, as well as its largest and most visited building. Churches are also often an area's most architecturally complex and archaeologically sensitive buildings. Constructed to the glory of God, for worship and mission and for use by the community, they remain some of Wales' most iconic structures. Here in Llandaff we have 222 churches, ranging in age from the 900 year old Llandaff Cathedral to 20C buildings such as St Mark's, Gabalfa.Church Heritage Cymru is a digital database of church buildings containing over 1,350 records for church buildings in Wales. It's freely available to anyone and a good starting point to find out where our churches are and some information about their history and architecture.
