Welsh Government have released a consultation on the future of how religious education in Wales will be taught as a mandatory aspect of the Curriculum for Wales 2022. The proposals in the consultation include renaming religious education to Religion, Values and Ethics (RVE). It will be mandatory for every pupil as an integral part of the Humanities Area of Learning and Experience. Becoming a mandatory element of the curriculum means that in future RVE will be open to fundamental changes by Welsh Government ministers without the need to amend primary legislation.It is therefore crucial that all people with an interest in education, and particularly the development of religious education in Wales, respond to this consultation.Details of the consultation, which closes on July 28th 2020, can be found on Welsh Government website.
