Text block 2

Christ Church Roath Park created the Easter Walk based on the Stations of the Cross to share the Easter Story through story and song. The Easter Walk has ten stations which take you on a journey through Holy Week, beginning with Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday and ending with the resurrection on Easter Sunday. Each station has an image from Christ's final week on earth, passages from the Bible and QR Codes which link to videos and music to enhance the retelling of the events of Holy Week.

Text block 3

Revd Canon Dr Trystan Owain Hughes, Vicar of Christ Church, Roath Park, Cardiff, says, "At a time where people are munching through hot cross buns and Easter eggs, we wanted to remind people of what the Easter holiday is all about. This is an innovative and creative Easter walk, where different stations tell the story of Easter, from Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey, through his last supper and crucifixion, and then onto his resurrection."But we didn't want to tell the story in the usual manner. We wanted to reach out to all ages, children and adults, in a multimedia experience. So people are invited either to come to the church grounds, or to just stop if they are walking past, and take time out of their busy lives to read and reflect on the stations one by one. And they can even do so with their smartphones on and their headphones in - story and song together will bring the meaning of Easter alive!"Many people walking past the church grounds will be on their way to or from our local railway station - how wonderful that they can stop and reflect at these very different 'stations' before rushing off to catch their train at the station up the road!"

What are the Stations of the Cross?

Text block 7

Stations of the Cross have formed part of Christian devotion for centuries and tell the story of Christ's final hours on earth. Stations of the Cross originated when early Christians visited Jerusalem to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Since then Christians have used this form of devotion in their spiritual practice, praying and reflecting at each station as they journey with Christ. For more information on the history of the Stations of the Cross visit Church of England's website
