All Saints Primary School Celebrates Cymraeg Campus Silver Award Success
The school community at All Saints Church in Wales Primary School, Barry, is delighted to have achieved the prestigious Cymraeg Campus Silver Award, recognising the significant progress made in promoting the Welsh language and Welsh culture across all aspects of school life.
The award celebrates the commitment of pupils, staff, governors and families in creating a vibrant Welsh ethos where the language is used naturally and confidently both inside and outside the classroom. Through a wide range of initiatives, learning experiences and pupil leadership opportunities, Welsh has become an increasingly visible and valued part of daily life at the school.
A particular acknowledgement must go to the school's Llais y Ddraig Pupil Voice Group, whose enthusiasm, leadership and dedication have played a central role in driving the school's Welsh language journey. The group has worked closely with staff to promote the use of Welsh across the school and wider community, helping to create meaningful opportunities for pupils to develop their confidence as Welsh speakers.
The school would also like to recognise the leadership of Mr George Ashworth, Deputy Headteacher, who has been instrumental in coordinating and supporting the school's work towards the award.
Headteacher Aled Williams said: "We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Cymraeg Campus Silver Award. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of our pupils, staff, governors and families in embracing and celebrating the Welsh language. The passion and commitment shown by our Llais y Ddraig group, supported by Mr Ashworth and the wider staff team, has been exceptional. As a Church in Wales school, we are committed to nurturing pupils who are proud of their Welsh identity and who recognise the importance of our language and culture in modern Wales."
The award marks an important milestone in the school's ongoing Welsh language journey and reflects its commitment to supporting the aspirations of Cymraeg 2050 by developing confident, enthusiastic Welsh speakers for the future.
