Making a Joyful Noise in Pen y Bont ar Ogwr Ministry Area
Five schools from across Bridgend gathered together in St Mary’s, Nolton for a celebration of Welsh language and culture at a diocesan Gymanfa Ganu organised by Clare Werrett, our Diocesan Head of Education.

The joyful event featured pupils from Archdeacon John Lewis CinW Primary, Pen y Fai CinW Primary School, Llangewydd Junior School, Coychurch Primary School and Trelales Primary School. Canon Graham Holcombe played the organ beautifully with Clare leading the singing.
The hymns featured included Calon Lan, Pwy Wnaeth y Sêr Uwchben? and Abba, fe’th Addolwn.
Georgia, Matilda and Darcey, an incredibly talented trio from Trelales, gave amazing renditions of Sosban Fach and International Velvet on their guitars.

Huge thanks to Rev Mark Broadway and the volunteers from The Ministry Area Of Pen-y-bont ar Ogwr for the warm welcome.
Jesus valued children and their spiritual growth. In Matthew 19:14, He said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” This demonstrates to us that guiding children in their faith is close to God's heart.

Clare says, “The Gymanfa Ganu was a wonderful experience for all involved, and I loved it!
It brought children from different schools, as well as their families, together in such a beautiful setting.
The morning was filled with joyful singing and great fellowship. My heartfelt thanks to the schools involved, Reverend Mark and his great team at St. Mary's as well as our talented organist Canon Graham Holcombe.”
Schools ministry is vital for guiding the next generation in faith and wisdom, aligning with God’s plan for discipleship and spiritual growth, and we are so incredibly grateful to Clare for all her hard work.
The video below is just a taste of how brilliant the singing was!
