The most recent election was held in December 2021 and the Bishop of Bangor was elected as Archbishop; he will continue to serve as Bishop of Bangor but will be assisted in that role by a newly appointed Assistant Bishop.The essence of this role is to ensure that the Archbishop of Wales is free to exercise his ministry secure in the knowledge that robust systems and protocols are in place to ensure that he will always be well briefed whilst working to a demanding and sustainable schedule.Development OpportunitiesThis post offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in an exciting time when the Church in Wales is making changes aimed at enabling it to better and more effectively engage in its mission and ministry to today’s Welsh society.There will be opportunities to be involved in high profile meetings and events, and to work with a range of internal and external colleagues and stakeholders. This is a senior post, which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence and, in consultation with key stakeholders, to develop further.Occupational Requirement:Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010 applies to this appointment. This post carries an occupational requirement to be a practicing Christian and, preferably, a communicant member of the Church in Wales or a church in communion with it.
