Llandaff Mothers’ Union has announced a special event at the Senedd to celebrate 150 years of service, advocacy and community support, while highlighting the organisation’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness of domestic abuse.
The event, Llandaff Mothers’ Union – 150 Years of Making a Difference, will take place on Thursday, 26 November 2026 at the Senedd, Cardiff, bringing together supporters, community leaders and campaigners to mark a significant milestone in the history of Mothers’ Union.

As part of the celebration, Llandaff Mothers’ Union will draw attention to its current campaign on domestic abuse, encouraging greater understanding of the issue and promoting practical support for those affected. The event aims to inspire conversation, challenge stigma and encourage collective action to address a problem that continues to impact individuals, families and communities.
Guests will hear from two distinguished speakers: broadcaster, author and campaigner Ruth Dodsworth, whose personal experience has made her a prominent advocate for survivors of domestic abuse, and The Right Reverend Mary Stallard, Bishop of Llandaff, who has consistently spoken on issues of justice, dignity and compassionate support.
Jean Starr, Diocesan President of Llandaff Mothers’ Union, said:
"As we celebrate 150 years of Mothers’ Union, we also recognise the continuing need for organisations that advocate for women, strengthen families and support those facing hardship.
Mothers’ Union has been a powerful voice for generations, and this event provides an opportunity to celebrate our heritage while shining a light on the ongoing issue of domestic abuse.
We look forward to bringing people together at the Senedd for what promises to be a meaningful and inspiring occasion."
The event will provide an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of Mothers’ Union over the past century and a half, while reaffirming its mission to support families, promote healthy relationships and speak out on issues affecting women and communities today.
