St Fagans CinW Primary School Praised in Latest Estyn Inspection
St Fagans Church in Wales Primary School, in Michaelston Super Ely, has been commended in its latest inspection report by Estyn, the inspectorate for education in Wales.
The report highlights the school's strong nurturing culture, academic strengths, and commitment to pupils' well-being, while also identifying opportunities for further development.
The inspection found that the school fosters a caring and inclusive atmosphere where pupils feel safe, happy, and respected, which according to the report ‘supports nearly all pupils in developing excellent attitudes toward learning and achieving exemplary behaviour.’
The inspection also acknowledged the effective support for pupils with Additional Learning Needs to make significant progress, demonstrating the school's dedication to inclusivity and tailored education, and the successful promotion of literacy, instilling a love of reading and strengthening pupils' speaking, listening, and writing skills.
It was also noted that leadership opportunities, such as participation in the school's Senedd, equip older pupils with valuable skills.
Headteacher Ceri Hawkins said: "We are delighted with our inspection report which recognises the inclusive nature of our school, providing a nurturing and caring environment that enables our pupils to thrive.
"It is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all the staff, who work tirelessly to provide all children with opportunities to succeed and feel valued. In its action plan the school has committed to further improvement by enhancing pupils’ digital and Welsh language skills, and providing more opportunities for pupils to exercise choice in their learning, fostering greater independence.
