Diocese

‘Diocese’ refers to the geographical territory in which a bishop exercises oversight. The Church in Wales is divided into six dioceses each with its own cathedral in which is housed the cathedra (the bishop’s ‘chair’ or ‘throne’).

There are 110 churchyards in the Diocese of Llandaff, the majority of them managed by volunteers from the parish church. As well as being havens for wildlife, they contain fascinating stories of community and family history on the gravestones, and provide a place of peaceful contemplation for visitors and local people alike.
