Bletchley Park Codebreaker Honoured with Portrait

Mrs Kath Morris, a long‑standing member of the St David’s Congregation in Afon Nedd, was honoured this week with the presentation of her portrait by photographer Mr Robin Savage. Mr Savage travelled from London to meet Kath and capture her image as part of his national project documenting the lives of those who served during the Second World War.

Kath, who served at Bletchley Park as a codebreaker, was recognised for her extraordinary contribution to the war effort. Her portrait now forms part of Savage’s acclaimed collection, In Their Glorious Company, a project dedicated to preserving the stories of British WW2 veterans who returned home and lived long, remarkable lives.

Launched on 8 May 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of V.E. Day, the project showcases a powerful series of portraits taken across the UK and France, including candid photographs of veterans at commemorative events and intimate images captured in their homes. Savage’s work offers a moving tribute to a generation whose service shaped the course of history.

The presentation of Kath’s portrait was a moment of deep pride for the congregation and wider community, recognising both her personal courage and the enduring importance of remembering those who served.
