St Martin's Church, Roath, celebrated the enrolment and vesting of five new members of its choir during the Solemn Mass.

The investiture marked an important milestone for Dominic, Catrin, Clara, Emma and Ffion, who joined a flourishing musical tradition alongside around 20 other singers, including undergraduate and postgraduate musicians, choral scholars and volunteer choristers.

During their probationary year, the new choristers completed the Royal School of Church Music's Voice for Life training scheme at White Level, preparing them for full membership of the choir.

The church expressed its gratitude to Mali and Juliette, who have led the junior chorister programme and supported the new singers throughout their training. The programme was established with seed funding from the Cathedral Music Trust and the Ouseley Trust, while current funding for the animateur role is provided by FOSMM. Thanks were also extended to all who support the work of the charity, both within St Martin's and beyond.

The investiture reflected St Martin's longstanding commitment to musical excellence in worship and the nurturing of young talent within the church.

The service concluded with the words of the hymn: "So shalt thou, gracious Lord, from me receive the glory due; and so shall I begin on earth the song for ever new."

The occasion was a joyful reminder of the rich choral tradition at St Martin's and of the many people whose dedication continues to sustain and strengthen it.

St Martin's regularly share videos of the choir singing on their Facebook page.
