St Catherine’s Church, Pontypridd will soon host The Bereavement Journey, a seven‑week facilitated course designed to support adults who continue to feel the impact of losing someone important to them. Open to anyone aged eighteen and over, the course will welcome participants bereaved at any time and will offer a gentle, structured space to explore grief with honesty and care.
The Bereavement Journey has been created to validate each person’s unique experience of bereavement and to help them feel safe as they navigate the pain of loss. There will be no expectation for participants to speak or share unless they wish to. Instead, each person will be encouraged to make their own decisions about what feels right and to engage with their grief at a pace that suits them. A dedicated manual will guide the weekly sessions, offering thoughtful reflections and practical support.
To maximise the benefit of the course, attendees will be encouraged to take part in all six core sessions and to identify a trusted person who can check in with them after each meeting. The course will conclude after session six, with an optional seventh session available for those who wish to explore spiritual questions that often arise during bereavement or to listen to a Christian perspective. Over many years, feedback has shown that this session helps people of all faith backgrounds and none.
Topics that will be explored throughout the course include Attachment, separation and loss; the impact and pain of bereavement; anger and guilt; coping with others’ reactions; adjusting to change; delayed and suppressed grief; and moving forward in healthy ways.
Next Course will start on:
