St German’s Church Honoured for Winter Night Shelter Work
St German’s Church, Cardiff, has been recognised by Cardiff Council for its compassionate and transformative service to the city’s most vulnerable residents. The church has received an award recognising its weekly Winter Night Shelter, which ran from November to March this year.

Each Saturday night throughout the coldest months, volunteers opened the church doors to offer a warm welcome, a hot dinner, a safe bed, and breakfast to those in need. This ministry was made possible by the extraordinary generosity of volunteers and donors—individuals and groups who contributed food, clothing, funds, and countless hours of service from across the community.
The award acknowledges not only the practical support offered, but the spirit of solidarity and compassion that shaped the project. It stands as a testament to what can be achieved when communities unite in acts of love, kindness, and shared purpose.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
The Diocese celebrates St German’s Church and all who contributed to this life‑changing work. Their commitment shines as a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we come together in service to others.
