Bryncoch Church in Wales Primary School in Neath Prove their Green Credentials
Bryncoch Church in Wales Primary School have been awarded the prestigious Platinum Flag Award for a fifth time, thanks to the environmental education programme, Eco-Schools.
Eco-Schools is an international programme run in Wales by environmental charity, Keep Wales Tidy and funded by the Welsh Government.
The Eco-Schools programme inspires and empowers pupils to be leaders of change in their community, helping them learn about sustainable living and global citizenship while giving them the information and support they need to make changes that will benefit their school, local environment and wider community, such as reducing waste, energy consumption, transport, biodiversity, healthy living and litter issues.
As part of their Eco-Schools Platinum assessment, Bryncoch Church in Wales Primary School showcased the excellent work being undertaken to promote environmental awareness and sustainability across the school community.
Pupils clearly take great pride in caring for their environment and enjoy their involvement. The dog poo bag initiative is another excellent example of the school's commitment to the local community. These initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, pupil leadership and community engagement.
Headteacher, Marc Sinnett, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded the Eco-Schools Platinum Award.
This prestigious recognition reflects the dedication, enthusiasm and hard work of our pupils, staff, governors and wider school community in promoting environmental sustainability.
Our Eco-Committee has demonstrated outstanding leadership, inspiring positive change both within the school and beyond. We are incredibly proud of the initiatives our pupils have led, from caring for our school grounds and orchard to litter-picking and community projects.
This award celebrates our shared commitment to protecting the environment and ensuring that our children develop the knowledge, skills and values needed to become responsible global citizens.”
