Lay and Ordained St Padarn's Graduates Celebrate at Cathedral
Lay and ordained members of the Diocese of Llandaff graduated from the St Padarn’s Institute during a ceremony at Llandaff Cathedral on 28th January.
The diocese warmly congratulates each and every one of them and is proud to have them serve in our part of Wales.
Archdeacon Mike Komor said, "What a privilege it was to be at the St Padarn's Institute graduation. The ceremony represents the recognition of a great deal of hard work by every one of the graduates, at whatever level they have been studying.
"For most, the work has been in connection with their development and formation as ministers in the Church, and as a diocese we want them to know how proud we are of what they have achieved.
“The graduation marks a significant stage in their process of life-long learning, and there is no doubt that they will now go on to build on this foundation wherever their future ministry might take them."
Rev’d Darren Lynch was ordained deacon in June 2022 and has now received a bachelor’s degree in Theology. He said, “Saturday was the culmination of a long journey; one I wasn’t sure at times I could complete. The staff of St Padarn’s were affirming and encouraging all the way.
"It was beautiful, the joy and genuine pride that every member of staff took in each of us being honoured in Llandaff Cathedral. I can’t thank Principal Jeremy Duff and the whole team enough for all they have done in helping us achieve all we have.”
Dr Julie Davies (right with Rev'd Darren) was a personal tutor for most of the candidates during their studies at St. Padarn's and will now work closely with them during the ‘Newly Licensed Minster’ phase of their ministry. She said, “It was a magnificent occasion, and it was a privilege to be part of the day - celebrating the dedication, hard work and ministry of all these people.”

"It’s a real joy to celebrate the graduation of several people from this diocese – congratulations to all of them. The Church in Wales invests heavily in making excellent theological education available to everyone. The St Padarn’s Institute, a short walk from Llandaff Cathedral, offers a range of courses and qualifications, not least through its Theology For Life programme," said Director of Ministry, the Rev'd Canon Tim Jones.
"Theological study isn’t limited to those preparing for ordained ministry, but informs and underpins anyone’s discipleship and Christian ministry – there is something suitable for just about everyone. I hope the example of this year’s graduates inspires others to consider the possibility of deepening their own understanding, faith and calling."
