Local Businesses Partner with Churches for Social Action
The Margam churches of St James, Pyle and St Mary Magdalene, Mawdlam have begun hosting a free ‘Family Breakfast’ event in Pyle Church Hall thanks to support from local businesses.
Organised by the Margam Ministry Area Mission Group, the weekly free meal operates as a warm space and with the partnerships and donations from food stores in the area is now including a ‘Family Breakfast Pantry’ where three items of fresh and dried/tinned goods can be purchased for just £1.
The church hall is open every Saturday from 9:30-11:30, offering free fresh fruit, fruit juice, cereal, toast, bacon and sausage rolls, coffee, tea and cakes.
Vicar in the Margam Ministry Area, Fr Duncan Walker said, “Poverty manifests in so many different ways. It is wonderful that various parts of the community are coming together to try and make a difference.
"It's a 52 week of the year commitment, which is a huge commitment but it’s something that we're very glad to do.”
James Food Hall, Pyle’s Garden Village grocery store, said on Facebook, “We are so happy to be able to help a local charity, providing meals for the community at their family breakfast club at Pyle Church Hall with a donation of fruit and vegetables.”
