Magnifying the Greatness of God- A Blog
Last week East Vale Ministry Area had the privilege of being part of a truly international and ecumenical team running a holiday club for primary-school age kids, joining forces with local volunteers from Croes y Parc Chapel and Cardiff Vineyard West as well as a team from Baptist Columbia Tennessee, USA, who came over with the organisation ‘Pro-Wales’.

The amazing Meg Tynan master-minded and co-ordinated the whole project, Peterston-Super-Ely CIW School generously let us use the school and its resources, and some of the Diocesan YFM and Growth Enablers teams joined us for a couple of days too.
We had 56 children attend over the course of the week, coming from different schools and home-schooling networks from all over the surrounding area, as well as further afield. It was great to see kids who’d only signed up for one or two days come back for more as they were having so much fun, and to hear fabulous feedback from parents. Throughout the week we ‘Magnified’ and ‘Zoomed in’ on the greatness of God through different activities including crafts, worship and dance, games, Bible study, the big bug hunt and crazy challenges together.

As volunteers, we’ve come away with catchy songs stuck in our head, aching calves from dancing the ‘Church Clap’ on repeat (Fr Peter was noted by the kids to be “actually quite good at it” by day five!) and glitter and mud engrained in our clothes, but also blown away by the absolute joy of seeing kids learning and indeed teaching us more about the incredible depth of God’s love for us.
Exhausted, yes; but keen to do it again? Also, yes!
Keep an eye on the East Vale Ministry Area Facebook page for details of our follow-up event for families in September.
