Sheep and Slime at Port Talbot MA's Holiday Club
Paul, our Director of Mission, went along to Port Talbot MA's Holiday Club to discover how grant money is supporting children and young people in the area during the school holidays.

Organised by the Rev'd Lizzie Tremble, with support from a team of voulnteers from across the Minstry Area, the club opens at 8am when they provide breakfast for the children attending the club. Many of the families appreciate the support the club offers giving their children access to a free breakfast and lunch.
Trudy Knowles, Lay Chair for the MA, applauded the helpers who represent every church from the MA as they work together to support the club. Meals are all prepared taking into account dietary needs and are carefully prepared by the volunteers.
The more demanding activities were led by our YFM team members; Caitlin and Rowena, who had also been there since the crack of dawn helping to get breakfast served, and then support the games.

Volunteers supervised different activities including the telling of the story of the Lost Sheep told through the use of a large slime tub. Hidden objects in the slime supported the retelling of the story, with support from Joe the Growth Enabler.
Shadow puppets and card making were all supported by the volunteers.
We're not sure who enjoyed it most!
Paul Booth, Director of Mission, said, "It's fabulous to see the community spirit and the whole Ministry Area working together. Providing a school holiday club is more than just offering childcare, it’s an expression of God’s love in action.
These clubs create a safe, joyful, and nurturing space where children can grow in confidence, build friendships, and discover God's love for them. This is especially important during school holidays, when some families face isolation or hardship.
This is an example of the church stepping in to support the whole community. It’s mission in its most practical and compassionate form."

Lizzie has done a fabulous job organising this club, supported by a grant from the Diocesan Board of Finance.
