St Monica’s CinW Primary School Celebrates Blessing of New Site
St. Monica’s CinW Primary School in Cardiff has marked a significant milestone following its move to a new site in November, a transition prompted by a building reorganisation within Cardiff Local Authority. Although the period of change brought challenges, the school community demonstrated remarkable resilience and a strong sense of unity throughout the process.
To celebrate this new chapter, Bishop Mary visited the school to bless the site and spend time with pupils and staff. During the visit, guests were welcomed on a tour of the purposeful learning environment, guided by the school’s Year 6 pupils. The children spoke confidently and knowledgeably about all aspects of school life, showcasing the pride they take in their community.
The visit concluded with an Act of Worship, offering pupils the chance to learn more about the Bishop’s role within the Church. A highlight of the morning was when one enthusiastic pupil had the opportunity to dress up as a ‘Little Bishop’, much to the delight of everyone present.

The school family came together in joyful song, filling the new building with warmth and celebration. It was an uplifting and memorable occasion for all involved.
Clare Werrett, Head of Education for the Dioceses of Llandaff and Monmouth says; “It was a privilege to be with the St Monica’s family at the blessing of the school. The staff and children were so proud and full of joy.
We appreciate the hard work, dedication and love that the staff and school community as a whole have shown throughout this period of change.
The future for St Monica’s ‘where everyone shines’ is bright indeed.”
