'Taste & See': New Diocesan Mission Initiative for Growth
Representatives from the six ministry areas in the Vale of Glamorgan have been exploring faith in new and exciting ways thanks to a new initiative from Llandaff Diocesan Growth Enablers.
The Growth Enablers are part of the mission team for the diocese and work with ministry areas on avenues of growth for congragations and community interaction. At an event in St Peter's Church on Monday 19th September, Dinas Powys representatives shared good news stories and previewed ‘Taking the Plunge’ a resource encouraging people to serve. At St Peter's the Growth Enablers also launched their new roadshow for discipleship courses.
As part of the evening participants were blindfolded, and given pots of pineapple, mayonnaise and shortbread which they were asked to identify using one of their remaining senses.
Fr Edwin tasked Fr Andrew with identifying pineapple by touch- which proved difficult!
Evangelism and Growth Lead Angela Clarke said, “Whilst being a bit of fun, the task highlighted how we don’t always get the full picture if we are not fully immersed in something.
Psalm 34 tells us, ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man who hopes in him.’ To taste and see is to try, and to experience. Experiencing and better understanding our relationship with God allows us to see his blessings in our lives.
The event was a great opportunity to share good news, celebrate green shoots of growth, to support and encourage. We’re so excited to offer ‘Taste and See’ to deaneries for their deanery conferences, before rolling out to ministry areas and individual churches.”
