Valleys Headteacher Announced as New Diocesan Head of Education
We are delighted to share that Clare Werrett has been appointed as the Head of Education for the Dioceses of Llandaff and Monmouth.
Clare has been Headteacher at Aberdare Town CIW Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taff for the past ten years. She began her teaching career over 30 years ago in St. David’s CIW School, Colwinston and after 14 years moved to be Deputy Headteacher and subsequently Headteacher of St. Brides Major CIW Primary School. Clare only intended to work for six weeks at St. David’s as the position was temporary, before continuing to pursue a career in music. However, once there, she ‘fell in love’ with the job and fortunately enough, they didn’t let her go!
Family commitments eventually took her away from the Vale of Glamorgan, to the Cynon Valley and her current post. In recent years Clare has taken on several different roles, including that of cluster convenor for her area and also the role of leadership coach. She has enjoyed working with, and supporting other leaders in their journey as she is well experienced in both difficult times and good.
Originally from Port Talbot, Clare now lives in Aberdare with her husband Jonathan, a maintenance manager and daughter Ruby, who is in her first year at St. John Baptist High School.
Clare said, "I am delighted and feel so privileged to have been appointed to the position of Head of Education. I look forward to working with our schools across Llandaff and Monmouth and am excited to work within the Diocese and become part of their committed team."
Please hold Clare, her family, and Aberdare Town CinW Primary School in your prayers during this time of change.
