Walking By Faith

On July 3rd pilgrims of different denominations and faiths came together to celebrate faith and fellowship at an Ecumenical and Inter-religious Pilgrimage hosted jointly by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia, the Diocese of Llandaff, and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales.
The pilgrimage began at St Padarn’s Institute with a reflection on pilgrimage and baptism, during a conversation between Bishop Mary and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cardiff-Menevia, the Most Reverend Mark O’Toole.
The walk, just short of three miles, took pilgrims through Bute Park before culminating at St David’s Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral with a liturgy of prayer and reaffirmation of Baptism.

Bishop Mary said; “There is something about walking together in solidarity that is a really important sign, I think, for the whole world, being there for one another, being there through the hard times as well as in the joyful times.
So I guess today gives us an opportunity to be companions to one another, maybe to be a little bit brave, maybe to talk to people we've not spoken to before, and maybe to find ways in which our stories might weave together, ways in which we might offer stories or prayer or companionship to one another, not just on an actual pilgrimage, but in the pilgrimage of our hearts.
Archbishop Mark said; “The witness, the small steps we take today in walking together in unity are a contribution and a witness to a desire for the unity of all peoples under God, for peace and for justice and for God's reign in our world."
The pilgrimage was a powerful symbol of unity, as people from various Christian denominations and faith traditions walked side by side, reflecting on their shared spiritual journeys. Through prayer, conversation, and fellowship, the day offered a meaningful reminder of the love of God that connects us all. As Bishop Mary and Archbishop Mark both shared in their reflections, such moments of togetherness are vital signs of hope and renewal in a divided world.
