Walking Humbly with God
This morning (Thursday 14th March) Bishop Mary and Archbishop Andy John took part in an Ecumenical Pilgrimage where pilgrims journeyed from Llandaff Cathedral to the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral. The event was opportunity to come together as people of faith from across Wales for a morning of friendship and prayer.
The pilgrimage was inspired by the words in Micah 6:8, ‘To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’.
The Pilgrimage began in Llandaff Cathedral with a welcome by the Bishop Mary, followed by a reflection on the spiritual significance of pilgrimage. The Cross of Wales formed part of the procession in the Cathedral.
Pilgrims walked just over three miles through Bute Park as they took the opportunity to share their faith stories, and think about how we can journey in faith together.
On reaching the Roman Catholic Cathedral Archbishop Mark O'Toole, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cardiff and Bishop of Menevia, lead a short Liturgy of the Word Service reflecting on the words from Micah.
Pilgrims where then offered the opportunity to share food and fellowship, before enjoying talk by Phil McCarthy on the subject ‘Pilgrims of Hope: Revitalising 21st Century Pilgrimage’.
Before setting off Bishop Mary said, "It's a delight and a privilege for me to be with everybody here, including our two wonderful Archbishops, Archbishop Mark and Archbishop Andrew.
We, today, are a communion of saints walking in the path of those who have gone before whose journey always points to Christ."
