Text block 1

Bishop Mary visited the new site of St Nicholas Church in Wales Primary School to bless the premises and pray for children and staff. She was joined by the Ministry Area clergy and Diocesan Director of Mission and Head of Education for an assembly tour of the school and morning of joyful interactions with the students. The aspects of the school are centred around Christian values of love, hope, respect, forgiveness, friendship and courage which feature in the tree mural in the entrance of the new build. The colourful library in the centre known as the ‘hive’ inspires creativity and sits down the hall from an emotion room, built to be safe place of calm and reflection with books for quiet reading.Bishop Mary said, “This wonderful new resource is filled with Christian values and it's wonderful to see the children dealing so well with moving from one place to another full of excitement, full of hope, and full of Christian joy.”During the assembly, one of the students part of the Values Committee prayed to her school:Almighty GodBring to this new building a sense of your presence. Bring to our hearts a new purpose. Bring to our learning and teaching a renewed commitment. We give thanks to the dedication and expertise of all those who have helped build our school and we ask for your blessing on those who will benefit from this school, now and in the years to come. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our LordAmen Each class teacher was presented with a lit candle along with the words:“May all who belong to our new school kindle the light of Jesus in their hearts. God of new beginnings, may your light from these candles remind us of your steadfast love, protection and inspiration as we work together in our new school.”After the song ‘This little light of mine’, Bishop Mary blessed the school. There is still work to be done on the outside space of the school but the children are very excited to be in their new space.
