Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School Staff Run Swansea Half Marathon in Memory of Colleague
Staff from Cwmbach Church in Wales Primary School have completed the Swansea Half Marathon in a heartfelt tribute to their much‑loved colleague Ioan Evans, who died unexpectedly in February.
A team of teachers and support staff took on the challenge together, running in Ioan’s memory and raising funds for big moose (sic), a charity that provides fast, effective mental‑health support for people who need it. The group described the day as emotional, uplifting, and a powerful way to celebrate Ioan’s positive impact on the school community.

Teaching Assistant Jess Phillips said: “When it was first proposed, it was a flat‑out no… but a little persuasion and a pic of Ioan doing it last year was all it took for me to say yes. We all did it for Io. I do hope we made him proud.”
Ioan, known for his warmth, humour, and dedication to pupils, remains deeply missed by colleagues, learners, and families. The team’s fundraising effort reflects the strong sense of community he helped foster at Cwmbach CiW Primary School.
Funds raised will support big moose’s mission to provide timely mental‑health support and therapy, helping people access the care they need when they need it most.
