A renewed interest in pilgrimage reveals a need for people to slow down, simplify their lives and find space for reflection, said the Archbishop of Wales.

Half the Ministry Areas of Llandaff Diocese were represented at this year's South Wales Walsingham Pilgrimage. The small village of Little Walsingham in Norfolk becomes, if only for a few days, the home for some one hundred and thirty Welsh pilgrims.

Metal theft has become an escalating national crime problem. Churches in particular are popular targets for thieves, containing as they often do large amounts of metal such as lead and copper. The Home Office has launched a scheme to provide protective security at places of worship.

Over 50 people in a multitude of hats gathered for the East Vale churches’ ‘Walking Talking Natter Hatter Tea Party’ on Sunday 16th July. The party walked to and celebrated the Lanlay Community Orchard with Bishop Mary who blessed the orchard with prayers (and the aid of a large water pistol!) before heading back to Peterston Church and Community Hall for tea, cake and crafts.

“Refugees come to our country for a safe place because they had to leave theirs. Ukrainians just need somewhere to stay and feel safe because Ukraine isn't safe anymore,” said a students of Pen-y-Fai Church in Wales Primary School at Refugee Welcome event. The event was hosted by the Diocese of Llandaff and Citizens Cymru on 17th July as one of a two part series to raise awareness of the situation in Ukraine and how people could help.

Every year the diocese Conference elects people to various Church in Wales bodies. This year there are elections for both the Governing Body (GB) of the CinW (the ‘parliament’ of the Church).

The Bishop of Llandaff praised the “passion, dedication and commitment” of staff, workers and supporters at a national service to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS in Wales.

Thousands of people will fill the streets of Ely on Thursday 6th July for the funeral of Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans who died in May following an alleged police chase.

A multi-faith church service to celebrate the wealth of talent and diversity of the National Health Service in Wales is one of several activities taking place to mark the 75th anniversary in July. The Church of the Resurrection in Ely, Cardiff, will be holding the event on 4 July, the eve of the day the NHS started on 5 July 1948.
