Director of Ordinands Ryan Green reflects on vocations after visiting the Diocese of Uppsala, Sweden

The Llandaff Diocesan link with Uppsala Diocese in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden began in October 2006. In May 2023 Fr Martyn travelled with Diocesan Director of Ordinands Ryan Green, Head of Education Beccie Morteo and Social Justice and Outreach Lead Christoph Auckland. Each of them have reflected on their experiences during that visit.

Refugee Week is a time when we all come together to celebrate the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. It is a time too for reflection, both on what has happened in the world and what we can do to improve it.

This year is its 25th Anniversary. The theme is compassion and throughout the week from 19th – 25th June, St Mary the Virgin Church will be celebrating what compassion looks like in action.

A shrine dedicated the Virgin Mary’s rescue of a drowning boy will be the destination of a pilgrimage taken by the residents of former mining village Penrhiwceiber as they begin celebrations of local church’s anniversary.
